user_dir(name : String) : String | Nil

A known/XDG user dir by its name ("DOCUMENTS", "DOWNLOADS", "PICTURES", …), or nil when not available. Linux/BSD resolves through xdg-user-dir; macOS maps to the fixed home subfolder (only when it exists); Windows through SHGetKnownFolderPath. Results are cached on Windows.
